Should the Red Sox trade Jon Lester?

Last night the playoff chances for the defending champion Boston Red Sox, a team that has been free falling for the last month and a half, hit the ground with a large THUD and shattered like a pumpkin hitting the concrete. The Sox got blown out by an embarrassing 14-1 score by the Toronto Blue Jays and added an exclamation point to what Boston fans already knew but were afraid to admit: this season is a lost cause. It’s over. It’s time to strip the team of useful resources and get ready for the 2015 season, and the first domino to fall should be Jon Lester.

Bum of the Week - 7/18/14

This week’s loser is Chiefs quarterback, Alex Smith.

As you’ve probably guessed, I’m not a big Alex Smith guy. I don’t hate him, and I don’t think he’s a bad quarterback, but I think he is painfully overrated. He’s 30 years old and has been in the league for eight years, and he’s thrown more than 20 touchdowns ONCE- last season he threw 23. He has topped the 3,000 yard plateau only twice in an era where it is DESIGNED for the quarteback to throw for at least 4,000 yards. So given all of this, how am I supposed to believe that he is one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL when he’s the third-best quarterback in his own division?

Bum of the Week - 7/11/14

This week’s loser is Red Sox pitcher, John Lackey.

John Lackey could be here for a lot of reasons. He could be here for his performance in a Red Sox uniform prior to last season, which was nothing short of abysmal. He could be on here for being a main culprit in the ‘fried chicken and beer’ fiasco of 2011. If you really want to get personal, we could rip him to shreds for divorcing his wife while she was battling breast cancer. But you know what? Prior to last season, he was pitching with a bad elbow that required Tommy John surgery, we’ll let that one slide.
