There are many things in life that annoy me: the NFL turning into two hand touch, the cold and snow of a New England winter, suffering through 30-second-long ads prior to watching a video on YouTube, Barack Obama’s presidency….the list goes on forever. High on that list is the ‘holier than thou’ condescending attitude of the BBWAA writers. Next week, we’ll find out who will be the newest members of the Hall of Fame. Why are the careers of the greatest baseball players being scrutinized and judged by a bunch of slobs who probably never played beyond Little League? I have no idea.
This week's loser is NY Giants wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr.
First and foremost, best wishes for a very Merry Christmas to our loyal readers. Even though I detest the New York Giants (for obvious reasons), I didn’t hate Odell Beckham Jr. I think he’s entertaining as hell to watch and is off-the-charts talented. The fact that I know that my team doesn’t have to play him for another four years puts my mind at ease. I think he’s that good. Now that all of the superlatives are out of the way, what he did on Sunday was embarrassing.
This week's loser is Panthers head coach, Ron Rivera
I know that they’re 13-0, and if they beat the Giants on Sunday they’ll likely finish the regular season 16-0….but I’ve been telling anyone who will listen that the Carolina Panthers will not win the Super Bowl. Why, you ask? Because of crap like this….
This week's loser is Philadelphia 76ers GM, Sam Hinkie
Sam Hinkie needs to be fired immediately. No, it’s not just because the Philadelphia 76ers are a horrific 1-22. The Sixers aren’t merely a bad team; they’re the worst team in the history of basketball. They have nine rookies. The San Antonio Spurs sat their starters on Monday night, and they still managed to beat Philly by 51 points, in Philly. Honestly, it’s next to impossible to rebuild conventionally in the NBA, so I can understand tanking for a season to land a franchise building block- part of me wishes that the Celtics would do it….for a season.
This week's loser is the head of NFL officiating, Dean Blandino
Somebody has to be the fall guy for the horrendous NFL officiating. I’d love to blame Roger “Fredo Corleone” Goodell but, as I’ve said in the past, I could realistically bestow this award on him EVERY week. I can’t give it to the officials because there are how many NFL refs? 40? 50? I’m not wasting my time making a list of those incompetent jerk offs. After all, how are they supposed to properly officiate a football game when the league changes the damn rules every year (sometimes on the fly)?
In the NBA, you have to be either very good or very bad. The worst you can be is mediocre. You don’t want to be an eighth seed, and you don’t want to be the last team in the lottery. Unfortunately, that’s where the Boston Celtics are: mediocre to okay, with no real assets to trade and get better. Basketball purgatory…..up Sh*ts Creek without a paddle….completely stuck.
