Scotty's Bum of the Week- Fri, 3/25/16

This week's loser is Rockets center, Dwight Howard

If Dwight Howard played for my favorite basketball team, I don’t know what I would do. I’m serious. I would consider boycotting my team altogether until he was in a different uniform. Howard was linked to the Celtics at the trade deadline, and I’m pretty sure I said a few Our Fathers and kicked in several Hail Marys in hopes that it would keep this waste of talent away. I lucked out, but that still doesn’t mean that Howard isn’t out there, Shaqtin’ a Fool.

This week's loser is Knicks forward, Carmelo Anthony

Ohh, Carmelo….

Do you think Melo would like a do-over? Who in their right mind signs a long-term deal with the New York Knicks? The Knickerbockers are in the midst of another miserable season, but they have $18 million in cap space this summer…and Anthony believes that it’s his job to get stars to join him in the Big Apple.

This week's loser is Boston Bruins GM, Don Sweeney

He had one job this week, and only one job: trade Loui Eriksson.

He failed.

Again, this isn’t an indictment on Eriksson or what he brings to the table. He’s a good player. But at almost 31 years of age and a few concussions under his belt, the sage decision would have been to move him before you either A- lose him in free agency and be left with nothing, or B- panic and overpay him in free agency; neither being an ideal situation.

Life With Loui

Erikkson is still a Bruin, for now.

Rule of thumb in today’s world of sports: it’s always better to get something rather than risk being left with nothing.

Unless you’re the Boston Bruins.

This week's loser is Red Sox third baseman, Pablo Sandoval

When I heard that Pablo Sandoval showed up out of shape, I said it was par for the course. He’s been battling weight issues his entire career and, after all, the whole point of Spring Training is to get into physical shape AND baseball shape. Is he overweight? Sure. But he’ll have the better portion of five weeks to shave off 10 or 15 pounds by opening day.

This week's loser is Red Sox "first baseman," Hanley Ramirez

With David Ortiz only eight months from retirement, most Red Sox fans will likely breathe a huge sign of relief when they no longer have to see Hanley Ramirez with a glove on his left hand again. Because that’s the logical solution, right? Once Big Papi calls it a career, Han-Ram slides into the DH role and everything is suddenly copacetic. Problem solved.

I don’t buy it.
